PLATINUM Park, an industrial site at Marconi Beam in Cape Town, is on the verge of entering its fourth phase of development.
The launch of the fourth phase, on 2060m², will require confidence from the developers, Rabie Property Developers, in an environment characterised by oversupply.
Developers say they have received the green light from the market to go ahead with planning, and building will begin this year.
They say that since international stainless steel company Guth SA moved into 751m² of offices and warehouses at Platinum Park, other major companies have followed.
These include Driveshaft, which has signed for 550m², to be used as its Cape regional office.
Debis Fleet Management has signed for a 751m² office and warehouse complex and a 3000m² yard, which will be used for up to 240 vehicles. The capital value of the lease is R1,9m. Driveshaft and Debis have both signed five-year leases.
Rabie Director John Chapman says Platinum Park has been able to attract quality tenants because of its position and Rabie's insistence that the park should set new standards for industrial park design.
Most of the buildings have up to 40% of space allocated for offices, and parking for these has been provided at a ratio of four bays per 100m². The warehouse space has been allocated 1,5 bays per 100m².
