The reliability of contractual rental income in commercial buildings and the recent housing boom experienced in many countries continues to propel the real estate sectors on stock exchanges worldwide. Sixteen real estate sectors in seventeen stock exchanges monitored worldwide showed gains in October 2003.

Releasing its "Worldwide Stock Exchanges: Real Estate Sectors Performance Report for October 2003" www.ResearchWorldwide.com - The Worldwide Commercial Real Estate Information Portal – says: "The Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange's Property Indices increased by 13.5% for the month of October 2003, recording the biggest gain. Other large increases in stock exchange real estate performances for October include the Philippines 9.2%, Oslo 8.0%, Stockholm 7.5%, Toronto 6.2% and Tokyo 5.0%.”

Only the Jakarta Property Index was a loser showing an 8% slide in October 2003.

"October’s market leader, Kuala Lumpur, rose on the back of increasing demand looming in the residential market place, especially in more expensive homes. Equine Capital Bhd made a strong debut on the KLSE main board on October 28th, ending that day at a 48% premium to its offer price. The stock was also the most heavily traded share with nearly 74 million shares changing hands on debut day," according to ResearchWorldwide.com - The Worldwide Commercial Real Estate Information Portal.
