The official inflation rate was 0,6 of a percentage point lower than the corresponding annual rate of 5,7% in February 2010 (i.e. the Consumer Price Index for all urban areas in February 2010 compared with that in February 2009).

From February 2010 to March 2010 the Consumer Price Index for all urban areas increased by 0,8 of a percentage point.

The annual percentage change in Producer Price Inflation (PPI) which effectively measures domestic output inflation was +3,7% in March 2010 as compared with March 2009.

This rate is 0,2 of a percentage point higher than the corresponding annual rate of +3,5% in February 2010. From February 2010 to March 2010 the PPI for domestic output increased by 0,3%.

The upward trend in PPI may suggest some upward pressure in CPI inflation in months ahead.
