The four awards are sponsored by Nedbank Corporate Property Finance and seek to honour achievements in innovation, creativity, vision and excellence across all disciplines and all sectors within the South African retail industry.
The winners are:

The winners of the National Retailer of the Year Award and the National Service Provider of the Year Award were recognized for providing exceptional levels of customer service, thereby contributing positively towards South Africa’s shopping centre industry.
The Design & Development Award (DDA) recognises exceptional shopping centre design and economic successes of projects within the South African property industry of both new shopping centres and for the renovation and/or expansion of existing centres.
The Retail Marketing award is usually presented annually at the SACSC Congress in recognition of outstanding and highly effective retail marketing initiatives. Initially this awards ceremony honoured winners in the Bronze, Silver, Gold and one Grand Prix award. With the introduction of the SACSC’s new award, the Grand Prix category falls away from the Footprint Awards, and has been incorporated into the final awards ceremony in the series, namely The Spectrum Shopping Centre Marketing Award.
Tracey Fowler, General Manager of the SA Council of Shopping Centres says, “As is the norm in any industry, excellence deserves recognition and it is for this purpose that the SACSC introduced the Spectrum Awards, whereby various retail industry role players have an opportunity to showcase their ability and be recognised for it. The winners tonight have received national recognition for their achievements, which serves as a powerful boost both externally within the industry and internally amongst the staff who contributed towards each project.”
Speaking on behalf of Nedbank Corporate Richard Thomas, Divisional Director of Nedbank Corporate’s Property Finance Cape division says, “Nedbank Corporate Property Finance prides itself in providing solution based finance and equity to the property market. As with SACSC, we strive for excellence and firmly believe that we offer a compelling proposition. Our sponsorship of this event demonstrates our clear intention to support councils such as this and in so doing give back to the industry which has supported us so well. By supporting the SACSC this year and our commitment to next year, we believe many South Africans will benefit with the council’s ongoing efforts in the industry.”
“Nedbank is a strong supporter of many projects in areas previously considered to be disadvantaged and we are pleased to confirm that we have exceeded our Financial Sector Charter targets by a healthy margin,” added Thomas.
