RMB Properties’ property development division has initiated developments in some of SA’s neighbouring countries.

The group has had a presence in Botswana and Zambia for the past year or so. In Botswana, planning is well advanced on two office complexes and one retail development in Gaborone, at a cost of about R450m.

Barend de Loor, director of property development for RMB Properties, said they are hoping to break ground on all three developments before the end of the year or early next year.

In Zambia, RMB Properties formed a joint venture company with African Life Financial Services and Sinyuka Property Development and Management Company. They intended to embark on property development and acquisitions in Zambia.

Work has already started on a R56m 4070m? office development in Lusaka. It will consist of basement parking and three storeys of office space.
