City officials and developers discuss red tape in planning delay

Some of the burning issues hampering property developments in Cape Town will be discussed at a forum hosted by the City of Cape Town on Friday, 3 August 2007
Investors, developers, town planners, architects, civil engineers, quantity surveyors and environmentalists are expected at the half-day workshop sponsored by Absa.
 
"This is a follow-up meeting to the workshop of 1 June 2007 which gave rise to the formation of the Cape Town Property Developers’ Forum," says Cllr Marian Nieuwoudt, Mayoral Committee Member for Planning & Environment.
 
"These discussions should be seen as a ongoing process to collectively address the challenges in the planning and growth environment," Niewoudt added.
 
Some of the topics that will be discussed include the streamlining of planning approvals and pressures on Cape Town’s infrastructure.
 
"The City of Cape Town is dedicated to open and constructive discussions with all stakeholders so that we can deal effectively with the many challenges that may be inhibit growth in the Cape Metropole," says Cllr Nieuwoudt.
 
Piet van Zyl, the City’s Executive Director: Strategy and Planning will provide feedback on the latest processes and policies, which have been reviewed to enable better service delivery.
