Tourvest has expanded its fledgling property portfolio through the acquisition of the Makalali Game Lodge in Limpopo
Tourvest, which last month entered the accommodation sector of the tourism market by buying the four-star Adderley Hotel in Cape Town, has expanded its fledgling property portfolio through the acquisition of the Makalali Game Lodge in Limpopo, subject to regulatory approval.

The lodge comprises 6,000 hectares of land with four camps accommodating 48 people. It is located in the Greater Makalali Game Reserve, a private conservancy about 60 km from Hoedspruit to the west of Klaserie/Timbavati.

The conservancy already has the Big Four and Tourvest director Jan Roesch said the group planned to introduce buffalo to make it a Big Five reserve. Tourvest will also refurbish and upgrade the lodges to four-star quality.

"Our Tourvest inbound tour operators already support Makalali to a significant degree and we are confident that with proper marketing, we'll be able to establish the lodge as a premium bush/safari destination," he said.
