Document solutions company Itec, which has been a tenant at Century City for the past seven years, has now built its own R12m head office in the precinct.
Designed by Tim Hughes Architects, the two-storey building on a prime 2048m² site fronting onto Ratanga Road comprises a gross lettable area of 1400m², a basement of 575m² and parking for 50 vehicles.
Project manager Doug Gordon of Brite Projects said that in spite of the fairly tight contract period, the main contractor Granbuild, which started on site in May last year, had completed the building within schedule. The company will move into the new offices this weekend once snagging of the building has been completed.
Robert Cooper, MD of Itec Cape Town said that after seven years as a tenant at Century City they had found the location to be very central to support all their clients within the Cape Town and Boland regions.
“With the expansion of our company we outgrew our premises at Number One Waterford Place within Century City and decided to invest in the suburb as we feel this area has the right profile for our company and our customers.
“Easy access to parking, restaurants and all the other facilities in Canal Walk and Century City generally have also been a huge benefit to our staff,” he said.
Itec, he said, was the fastest growing document solutions company in Southern Africa and was making huge strides in its quest to build a truly South African brand within the industry.
The company was formed three years ago through the merger of Konica and Minolta and has since shown year on year growth in revenue of 40% per annum with a current annual turnover in excess of R1billion.
Cooper said Itec had recently become one of only a handful of companies worldwide to secure an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OME) agreement with their main product supplier, Konica Minolta Business Technologies Inc in Japan, enabling them to offer their customer base Itec-branded copiers and multi-functional products, along with the supply of their current product range including Konica Minolta printers.
“In so doing Itec had become the first document solutions company in South Africa to grow a local brand, which had the potential to succeed in foreign markets,” he said.
Greg Deans, CEO of Century City Property Developments, said Itec had been one of the first tenants at Century City and the company had expanded and developed in tandem with Century City.
“We are extremely happy that they have chosen to remain within the Century City family and to build their new regional head offices here. In so doing they are joining many other leading corporates who have chosen Century City as their home due to its excellent central location and easy accessibility to the N1 as well as the high standards of services, security and infrastructure that the development offers,” he said.
