The Oakhurst Farm Stall, a well-known landmark on Hout Bay Main Road since 1945, will be moving to directly opposite its existing location in November.

Construction has started on the 1 000m2 first phase of a new commercial development on Oakhurst Estate which will house the farm stall and other smaller retail tenants.

The farm stall will be the anchor tenant and will offer the surrounding neighbourhood fresh produce, a daily bakery, deli and wine sales.

Children have been catered for with play areas.

"Obviously time brings the necessity to upgrade the area.

However, I was adamant that we did not lose the farm village atmosphere," says Alan Dorman, whose family has owned the estate since 1918.
