The Avenues, the Growthpoint-owned 37 551m² shopping centre in Springs, will soon be home to the South African Police Services training facility.

The SAPS has signed a 5-year lease with Growthpoint, managed by Investec Property Group, for 1,663m2 of space on the upper level of The Avenues, which has 72 stores including anchor tenants Checkers, Edgars and Woolworths

The SAPS will relocate its entire training department from the Springs Police Station to The Avenues, which is centrally situated in the Springs CBD in Ekuruhleni. The new premises will comprise 20 offices, six training rooms and two additional computer-training facilities.

Police members will receive in-house training including crime scene management and be tutored on how to act as a witness in a court case, amongst others in their new premises at The Avenues so that they can be more effective in their respective fields within the Service.

"The presence of the SAPS training facility is a positive addition to The Avenues and the entire surrounding community," said Stephan le Roux of Growthpoint.
