Rebosis Property Fund, a JSE listed real estate investment trust (REIT) with a high-quality diversified portfolio across commercial and retail assets, today announced that, following the implementation of a new board tenure policy, its founding independent non-executive Chairperson, Dr Anna Mokgokong has retired from the board with effect from 31 May 2022.

Ms Nomfundo Qangule, also a founding independent non-executive director, has indicated that in line with the tenure policy, she will not offer herself for re-election at the Group’s AGM that is due on 31 May 2022.

Both Dr Mokgokong and Ms Qangule served on Rebosis’ board since its listing in 2011. “The Nominations Committee, under my leadership, commenced with a comprehensive review of our board structure, with a view of strengthening its independence, diversity, knowledge, skills and experience.

“I am satisfied that my and Ms Qangule’s decision not to stand for re-election paves the way for new independent non-executives to be introduced to the board, whilst retaining sufficient corporate memory.

“I wish the Board and executive management the very best and thank them for the opportunity to lead Rebosis over the past 11 years,” commented Dr Mokgokong.

Mr Kameel Keshav (CA)SA, currently an independent non-executive director and deputy chairman of the Board has been appointed as Chairman with effect from 01 June 2022. “On behalf of the Board, I wish to express our deep appreciation to Ms Qangule and Dr Mokgokong for serving the Company since listing,” Mr Keshav commented. “Dr Mokgokong’s entrepreneurial insight, wealth of corporate and property knowledge and experience, combined with her strong and principled character guided the Board and Company through growth cycles and challenges,” he added.
