Phumzile who holds a BCom (Accounting), BCom (Hons - Business Management) is currently the executive chairman of the Afropulse Group. 

A stockbroker by profession, Phumzile was appointed as the economic advisor to the Honourable Minister Ms Bulelwa Sonjica, the Minister of the Department of Minerals and Energy from 2007 to 2009.

Phumzile currently serves as an independent non-executive director of various listed and unlisted companies.
