Monday, 31 March 2014 saw this Western Cape golf and country estate, together with its resident ambassador, Lee-Anne Pace, walk away with multiple awards at Compleat Golfer's 5 Star Experience Awards.
Held at Country Club Johannesburg, this annual event is better known in golfing circles as the 'Oscars' of golf.
"It is the ultimate accolade for golf clubs and estates," says Gawie Marx, Pearl Valley General Manager. "To receive this prestigious award, not once, but six years consecutively, is a very proud achievement for Pearl Valley and recognises our constant dedication to ensuring a superior golfing experience for all of our visitors and members."
But this was just one of the evening's many memorable moments for Pearl Valley. Lee-Anne Pace, Pearl Valley's resident golfing ambassador, received the Compleat Golfer's Golfer of the Year Award, together with the Women's Professional Golfers Association (WPGA) Player of the Year Award.
Hot on the heels of her recent win at the Investec Cup, South Africa's biggest women's golf tournament. Lee-Anne is currently in America to compete at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, this year's first ladies' major tournament which takes place from 1 to 6 April.
"It's an ideal match. Premium golfing and lifestyle facilities, combined with South Africa's number one woman golfer," says Marx of Pearl Valley's partnership with Pace.
"We extend our warmest congratulations to Lee-Anne on both her recent win and last night's awards, and we wish her everything of the best in America."
The Compleat Golfers 5-Star Experience Awards rates golf clubs and estates across eight categories, covering clubhouse facilities, the golf course, halfway house and practice facilities, quality of customer service, price / value relationship, services offered and ambience.
For a golfing facility to be awarded the coveted 5-Star plaque, the meeting of certain minimum requirements and standards must be guaranteed.
"It's all about providing an experience that not only ensures the golfer will return again and again," says Marx, "but will also readily recommend the facilities to other golfers both locally and internationally."
The Department of Tourism estimates a total revenue of approximately R29.2bn across the local golf industry.
Together with the growth of 'golf tourism', which is identified as a key driver for boosting international tourism, Pearl Valley is clearly set to continue delivering a positive experience, not only within its actual estate, but, equally important, one with a continued direct impact on the local and regional economy.
