The announcement to develop a contemporary new Healthcare centre within the Umhlanga Ridge New Town Centre, adjacent to the  specialty Gateway Private Hospital currently under construction, is attracting positive attention from the medical fraternity.

Giles PendletonThe R144 million Gateway Healthcare Centre will be developed on the corner of Aurora and Park Drive, some 500m from the Netcare Umhlanga Hospital, by Crowie Projects in conjunction with our partner Kathir Developments

The premier seven-storey commercial property will feature cutting edge design, sea views and operational practices that are energy efficient, resource efficient and environmentally responsible.

Giles Pendleton, managing Director of Crowie Projects comments, ‘It is our intention to develop an A-grade space of medical suites, with a lot of attention paid to sustainability. Our vision is to create the first commercial Healthcare facility to receive a Green Star Rating in South Africa’.

With Netcare Umhlanga and Gateway Private Hospital in close proximity, the area is recognised as a strategic medical node and the addition of this premium-grade commercial centre will enhance the location and meet the need for quality healthcare space. Says Pendleton, ‘Feedback to our plans for the Gateway Healthcare Centre has been overwhelming'. There is currently a demand for quality medical  rental accommodation. To date more than half the space is already spoken for’.

The 6165m² centre will offer four levels of commercial space over ground floor retail with ample parking facilities, including two upper parking levels as well as ground floor bays.

Construction is planned to start in April 2014 with completion is expected in April 2015.
