Once an ‘iconic’ original 1930’s post office, the Monarch Hotel, located in Rosebank, a prestigious suburb of Johannesburg, is a sophisticated, lavishly styled hotel

A prominent landmark on Oxford Road, the Monarch is a glamorous yet eclectic setting of wrought-iron entrances, rich fabrics, muted marble, brass banisters, paneled walls and ceilings perfectly balanced by bespoke contemporary finishes, providing the ultimate ‘urban’ sanctuary for business travelers and tourists alike.

It reflects an affluent ambience of old world charm with refined period-like interiors enriched with classical and contemporary furnishings complimented by an extensive art collection of established and emerging South African artists.

Boasting 11 luxurious suites and one presidential suite, the Monarch prides itself on the rich cultural history of Johannesburg and welcomes its guests in modern style and traditional charm.  Overlooking the tranquil internal courtyard and plush gardens, the ‘presidential’ suite includes a private entrance with entrance hall, security lobby, private chef’s kitchen,  restroom, generously spacious lounge with business desk, a dining room that seats 10 guests and a grand piano while the separate bedroom boasts a vanity, king size bed, lounge and double bathroom.

Six sizeable ‘deluxe’ suites consist of two Terrace Suites, two Royal Suites and two Coronation Suites, include exclusive ‘neo-classical’ appointed interiors, entrance hall, restroom, lounge and dining areas, and king sized bedroom and bathroom with options of garden courtyards views or private terraces.

A further, five standard luxury suites, each 51m² in size, consist of a king size bedroom, vanity, lounge area, en-suite bathroom with separate shower and restroom.  Four of these luxury suites offer courtyard views whilst one suite provides a view over Oxford Road and beyond.

All suites are immaculately furnished and equipped with modern technology, internet connection, fine linen, luxurious amenities and bestow personal dedicated services.

Furnished with relaxed settees and contemporary art, the hotel’s lounges provide a casual menu for drinks and light snacks.  Guests can also afford the pleasure of relaxing on the terrace overlooking the garden courtyard and enjoy an alfresco lunch from the a-la-carte menu.

The establishment features a restaurant and a bar where guests can enjoy ‘cuisine vital’’ dishes complimented with fine local and international wines.

Rosebank is a lively multi-cultural hub, home to many business’ head offices and tourist attractions.  It provides an array of entertainment at many shopping malls, pavement cafes, restaurants, markets, cinemas, art galleries and night clubs.
