The new development has the added appeal of being right next door to the Paarl Mall, a powerful, modern retail magnet for the entire region, and a centre for community activity in the district, with its popular boutiques, coffee shops and national stores.
The 5 000m² Paarl Business Park is a project initiated by national property development and investment group Atterbury Property, and Prosperito, a national developer based in Cape Town.
The site’s immediate proximity to the four-year-old Paarl Regional Mall, which has quickly established itself as the primary retail resource and community focus for the town and surrounds, will increase the significance of the business park as a base for professional practices and corporate headquarters. With five separate buildings to be completed in stages starting early next year, the park’s offices are for sale or rent from 60m2 upwards. The A-grade accommodation is on ground and first floor levels, and occupants and visitors have basement parking.
‘The business park is strategically positioned in terms of its direct access to the N1, and its visibility both from the highway and the retail centre parking area offers a branding opportunity for occupants’ said Mark Mouton, MD of Atterbury Cape. ‘It also has the attraction of flexibility, being able to accommodate both smaller business and larger corporates, and allowing for growth.’
Prosperito MD Gerhardt Jooste said the decision to use the land for an office park had its roots in the imperatives that have developed with the significant migration of families to this area of the countryside. ‘Paarl has an enormous rural attraction, and offers a wonderful life for people who want their kids to have the best opportunities for personal growth. The residential development in the area is extremely high quality and includes the Boschenmeer and Pearl Valley Golf Estates and the Val De Vie Polo Estate, aside from other highly attractive private housing developments.’ Nearby wine estates that include Backsberg, Laborie, Nederburg, Rhebokskloof and Simonsvlei, are legendary among wine connoisseurs throughout the world.
Paarl is also known for its quality schools that include the Paarl Gymnasium, Paarl Boys’ High and Junior, and for girls, La Rochelle and the Paarl Girls’ High and Junior schools. It is also home to the Paarl campus of the Boland College with its connections to Caledon, Worcester, Strand and Stellenbosch.
Paarl Business Park has an attractive setting with outlooks over the Paarlberg and the mountains that stretch between Stellenbosch, Franschoek and Wellington. Architecture by Boogertman and Partners has a texture similar to the Paarl Mall, featuring stone, glass and steel as the primary elements of the facades and creating a cohesive architectural precinct.
Prosperito and Atterbury, while undertaking their own major independent projects, have also collaborated on successful joint ventures that include the Fountains Regional Mall at Jeffreys Bay, the 30 000 m2 Bella Rosa Village, a mixed office and residential project near Durbanville, as well as the 30 000 m2 Tygerberg Office Park where both have offices.
