Ms Nomfundo Qangule, also a founding independent non-executive director, has indicated that in line with the tenure policy, she will not offer herself for re-election at the Group’s AGM that is due on 31 May 2022.
Both Dr Mokgokong and Ms Qangule served on Rebosis’ board since its listing in 2011. “The Nominations Committee, under my leadership, commenced with a comprehensive review of our board structure, with a view of strengthening its independence, diversity, knowledge, skills and experience.
“I am satisfied that my and Ms Qangule’s decision not to stand for re-election paves the way for new independent non-executives to be introduced to the board, whilst retaining sufficient corporate memory.
“I wish the Board and executive management the very best and thank them for the opportunity to lead Rebosis over the past 11 years,” commented Dr Mokgokong.
Mr Kameel Keshav (CA)SA, currently an independent non-executive director and deputy chairman of the Board has been appointed as Chairman with effect from 01 June 2022. “On behalf of the Board, I wish to express our deep appreciation to Ms Qangule and Dr Mokgokong for serving the Company since listing,” Mr Keshav commented. “Dr Mokgokong’s entrepreneurial insight, wealth of corporate and property knowledge and experience, combined with her strong and principled character guided the Board and Company through growth cycles and challenges,” he added.
The Group further announced the appointment of three new independent non-executive directors with effect from 01 June 2022: Ms Monica Khumalo has robust property sector experience spanning over 25 years. She holds a legal degree from the University of the North and a post graduate diploma in Property Development and Management from Wits University. Ms Khumalo further holds a Property Development Programme Certificate from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Cape Town, and a Real Estate Certificate from the Estate Agency Board.
Mr Paul Serote CA(SA), is an experienced corporate executive and chartered accountant with strong operational, financial and people management expertise. Subsequent to his corporate career, Mr Serote has led several consulting assignments in the areas of financial management and real estate. During his corporate tenure, Mr Serote held various senior executive positions in both the private and public sector, including at Liberty, Bidvest, and the Auditor General of South Africa. Mr Serote previously headed the Property Management Trading Entity (PMTE) at DPWI, which managed well over 92,500 properties. Mr Serote holds an MPhil in International Business from GIBS, a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (PDBA), a Post Graduate Diploma in Accountancy from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and a B.Compt from UNISA.
