The Construction Industry Development Board (cidb) is thrilled to announce the opening of entries for the 2024 Empowerment and Recognition of Women in Construction (ERWIC) Awards.

The Construction Industry Development Board (cidb) is excited to announce that the Empowerment and Recognition of Women in Construction (ERWIC) Awards will return for the third time in 2022, after two successful years and dozens of high calibre entries.

The construction industry has historically been essential in building the country.

“Women in SA need to be given the opportunity to participate meaningfully, including in the construction industry,” said Department of Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Patricia de Lille.

Construction remains a male-dominated industry but there are signs that women are starting to become better represented in this sector – to its great potential benefit.

Ten SMMEs received their SAQA accredited NQF certificates at the announcement of the completion of the construction of a 4,5km community access road in Mzamba in the Mbizana Local Municipality.
