Fairvest withdraws bid to merge with Safari

Fairvest Property Holdings Limited  today announced that it has elected, by mutual agreement, to not proceed with its friendly merger with Safari Investments RSA Limited.

An ever-evolving retail property market

Competition in South Africa’s retail market is intense, with more than 25 million square metres of formal retail space currently, in excess of 2,000 existing shopping centres and close to three million square metres of formal retail space in the pipeline.

Levels of building activity in the South African market for new housing remained subdued in 2018, which were much in line with trends since 2010 after the economy emerged from recession in 2008/09.
