Holiday town markets are beating the odds

It has long been a foregone conclusion that towns where markets are driven largely by the demand for holiday homes will always perform below the national average during subdued economic times, but a report released by FNB last month has revealed that this is no longer the case.

Relocating for a better lifestyle which includes living off the grid in a more self-sustainable manner is catching on fast in the coastal Garden Route areas of Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and Sedgefield.

Online auction of exclusive beachfront real estate, Keurboomstrand, Plettenberg Bay - South Africa #172 - featuring a four bedroom home with interrupted beach access and sea views.

Approximately 1 000 people made their way to the town’s Central Beach to protest the proposed R4 billion development.

The R4 billion mixed-use development will comprise a number of elements, including a yacht club, retail stores, office space, a 100-room 5-star hotel, 3-7 storey buildings providing 482 apartments and 17 bungalows along the beach.

The Garden Route, which stretches from Riversdale through to Plettenberg Bay and is home to lush green landscapes, indigenous forests, lagoons, lakes and mountain backdrops, encompasses some of South Africa’s most appealing and scenic coastlines.

The Plettenberg Golf Estate (Pty) Ltd (in business rescue) invites interest parties to submit offers to the Business Rescue Practitioner, Mr Neill Hobbs,  for the purchase on immovable properties and assets, including water rights and/or shares owned by the Plettenberg Golf Estate (PTY) Ltd.
