The Green Building Council SA (GBCSA) is celebrating World Environment Day on 5 June with inspiration and ideas on how to bring the outdoors inside, appreciate nature and protect the natural environment that we all share.

6-Star Green Star SA certified Hotel Verde has just been awarded a second LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum Green Building Certification by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) making it the first hotel globally to achieve a double Platinum certification for LEED®.

Hotel Verde was awarded the highest accolade of a 6-Star Green Star SA rating, obtaining 82 points using the Existing Building Performance tool.

Ankerdata who have been working closely with the operations team at Hotel Verde and BON Hotels on the property management system protel for "Africa's greenest hotel" may very well be able to claim a world first in hospitality software technology.

Construction on Hotel Verde, which is a part of the recently launched BON Hotels group, began over a year ago just outside Cape Town International Airport, with a team of contractors and experts dedicated to finding the alternative.
