South African REITs (real estate investment trusts) have once again excelled among the country’s top companies earning the most wealth and value for shareholders.

The SA REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) sector has published the Second Edition of its Best Practice Recommendations to enhance the transparency and comparability of financial reporting by SA REITs.

In order of most empowered, the REITs are: Arrowhead Properties, Redefine Properties, Growthpoint Properties, Equites Property Fund, and Rebosis Property fund.

Estienne de Klerk has been elected Chairman of the SA REIT Association, which represents the South African listed REIT (real estate investment trust) sector.

Property Point, the Growthpoint Properties initiative, has officially facilitated more than R1bn successful procurement opportunities for small businesses operating in South Africa’s property sector.

In the last decade, SA REITs have proven their ability to operate successfully on the international stage and play in almost any market in the world. But does this make them truly global real estate players?

In a landmark partnership for collective economic growth in South Africa, the Department of Small Business Development (DSBD) is joining forces with Property Point, a Growthpoint Properties initiative, to develop more small businesses for South Africa’s property sector.

Growthpoint Properties today introduced the first electronic bike hubs to Sandton Central in a pilot project that pioneers a new, convenient and environmentally innovative alternative mode of transport for South Africa’s financial hub.

Ten thriving small businesses have graduated from the rigorous two-year enterprise development incubation programme offered by Property Point: a Growthpoint Initiative.
