The path to maintaining SA’s credit rating

I have previously referred to the South African economy as just muddling along – we aren’t shooting the lights out, but we haven’t sunk into the depths of a recession.

As land reform takes centre stage ahead of municipal elections this year, the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA) has called for professionals in the property sector to arm themselves with the right skills to navigate this exciting but often controversial terrain.

The recent ruling by the Supreme Court which states that the current owner can be held liable for any arrears in taxes, rates and other utilities incurred by past owners – going back up to 30 years – comes as a blow to the property market.
