South Africa’s inflation has been forecast to dip to 6.4% for the remainder of 2016, National Treasury said on Wednesday.
The depreciation of the rand is estimated to spike inflation well above the 6% target, but the move would be “relatively constrained”, SA Reserve Bank Governor Gill Marcus said on Thursday.
Building activity in the residential sector had remained buoyant, but the nonresidential sector was struggling.
