Construction has begun on the final R180m sixth phase of the Tygerberg Office Park in Plattekloof, Cape Town.
The latest development will add 10000m² to the office park. This will bring the total office space in Tygerberg Office Park to 30000m²
Atterbury Cape says even before earthworks had been completed for the final phase, leases had been signed for two of the four buildings that will be constructed on the site.
The group says that only 5000m² still needs to be let in this final phase.
The A-grade office park occupies a total 13ha on the Tygerberg Hills. The land is leased from the City of Cape Town by the developer, an Atterbury consortium.
The office park buildings will ultimately only cover 20% or 2,6ha of the entire area.
Once completed, the development will be transferred into unlisted property fund, Attfund, which also holds the Cape Gate precinct and Willowbridge North in Cape Town, and Clearwater Shopping Mall in Johannesburg.
Two of the four buildings still to be completed will be ready for occupation by the middle of next year, while the final two could be ready by next August.
Among those already headquartered in the park, which was established in 1998, are Dimension Data, Absa Private Bank, Cell C, British Telecommunications and Thawte Consulting.
Mark Mouton, Atterbury Cape MD, says that while two tenants had each taken an entire building in the final phase, the last two buildings could be configured for multiple tenancies.
At this stage the offices could also be designed to accommodate specific tenant requirements.
