Office premises in Arcadia, the Pretoria suburb with the second-highest concentration of embassies in the world, will be brought to auction by Van’s Auctioneers next Friday.

Office premises in Arcadia, the Pretoria suburb with the second-highest concentration of embassies in the world, will be brought to auction by Van’s Auctioneers next Friday.

Originally a residence, “this traditional home has been well looked after by its previous occupants, is perfect for conversion into business premises, and has enough spacious capacity for at least five offices, a reception area and other necessary amenities,” said Martin Pretorius, auctioneer for Van’s.

Stylish and solid, the home harks back to an era when South Africa architecture was shaped by a kind of post-Victorian farming charm.

The residence includes a cool stoep, a corrugated-iron mining style roof, and big windows with wooden frames.

The house, at 994 Arcadia Street, is next to the United Arab Emirates embassy and is near other embassies, the Union Buildings, art museum, and Venning Park.

“A steady stream of traffic passes the house, meaning investors could expect prime business exposure if inclined to tap into this property’s commercial potential,” Pretorius said.

The auction takes place on site next Friday at 11am.
