JSE-listed construction company, Aveng, has appointed Roger Jardine as its new chief executive with effect from July 7.

Jardine held the position of the chief operating officer of Kagiso Trust since November 2006, before which he was chief executive of Kagiso Media for seven years.

Prior to that Jardine was director general of the department of science and technology for five years. He also served as chairman of the CSIR and the Nuclear Energy Corporation of South Africa (NECSA) for six years.

Aveng's Board of Directors "is confident that Jardine's experience and leadership will complement the group's strong operational management, both at its operations and the corporate office."
