Since the initial launch, opportunity for retail land within the Fountains development has been enlarged by more than 100% to cater for demand, an industrial precinct of 40ha has been planned

This 600ha mixed use development will almost double the size of Jeffrey’s Bay and fuel a growth rate already three times the national urban average.

Plans also include the town’s first hospital, a retirement village, residential village, a lifestyle/equestrian centre, 30ha of commercial offices, and value mart layed out amid landscaped gardens and superior finishes.

The Estate is dominated by open green spaces, waterways and traffic controlled areas, which has become the hallmark of Buchner developments.  Fountains has its own extensive nursery and will invest several million rands into a landscaping solution to match that of Marina Martinique.

The development will also integrate state-of-the-art electronic and on the ground security features, as well as community controlled sidewalks and open space maintenance.

The development offers a myriad of business opportunities, from a regional shopping mall with leading retail stores, as well as value mart outlets, car showrooms, a business park and professional suites.

Recreational areas include landscaped parks, bridle paths, waterways, cycling and jogging trails, as well as a country club with sporting facilities and swimming pool - all enclosed in a safe and people friendly environment.

Bucher said the development embellished Jeffrey’s Bay as an alluring place to live and work.

“Keen interest is being received from national industrialists and professionals, seeking a lifestyle that has nothing do with traffic, embraces a coastal lifestyle but that is also financially rewarding,’’ Buchner said.

“That is what Fountains Estate is all about as it combines a world class lifestyle with a deep sense of community enabled through the retirement village and hospital with a growing and vibrant economy.’’

“The only practical expansion potential for Jeffreys Bay is over The Fountains land of 600ha. The first development phase will be followed in future by further phases which will include a planned heliport.”

Jubilee Lakes, the newly launched 18 Hole Jack Nicklaus Championship Golf Course is adjacent to Fountains Estate and is among the developments that are making the home of the perfect wave, home to a new wave of young or retiring professionals.

Background information and Rationale for growth of Jeffreys Bay:

Two recent market surveys by shopping centre research specialists have identified a medium term need for an 80 000m² basket of commercial rights on what is known as The Fountains site, at the strategic crossing of the access road into Jeffreys Bay off the N2, and the Humansdorp road to Cape St Francis.

As early as 1985, the site was identified as a regional shopping node by the authorities for purposes of future planning
“Over the last ten years, Jeffreys Bay has grown from a small, holiday destination to a large town, catering for the needs of the region between Port Elizabeth and Plettenberg Bay. Regular international surfing events have put it on the world map as a tourist destination. The annual growth of 10% is three times the normal urban growth rate.

“Jeffreys Bay benefits from natural growth as well as strategic growth stemming from a significant move back to the Cape by people who prefer the Garden Route to over-populated and over priced areas in Gauteng, KwaZulu Natal and the Western Cape.

“Jeffreys Bay has also become a preferred residential area, partly because of access to excellent schools. It can still offer good value for money, compared to property prices in Plettenberg Bay, George and Knysna and even though prices have escalated ahead of national growth rates, Buchner says.
