Nedbank Corporate Property Finance is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Thomas as Divisional Director Property Finance Cape and Anand Joseph as Divisional Director Property Finance KZN, effective 1 November 2007

Thomas takes over from Timothy Irvine, who has resigned from the Group to pursue other interests, while Joseph takes up the position that Thomas previously held in KZN.

Says Frank Berkeley, managing director of Nedbank Corporate Property Finance, “Richard Thomas has been Divisional Director Property Finance KZN for the past two years and has ably demonstrated his leadership abilities and considerable knowledge of property.  Under Richard’s leadership, the KZN region experienced impressive growth of over 60%, growing the book value from R4,7bn to R7,5bn.  We are delighted to have someone of Richard’s calibre taking over the Cape region and wish him every success with his new challenge.”

“Anand has been with the bank since 2005 in the positions of General Manager: Head Office and more recently Head of the Office of Strategy Management for Property Finance.  I am confident that Anand will bring the same insights and energy to his new role as he has displayed in his previous roles,” says Berkeley.

Hailing from Cape Town, Thomas moved to Johannesburg to pursue a career in banking. After training and holding management positions at various financial institutions, he joined Nedcor Investment Bank (NIB).

In 1998 he was transferred to Kwazulu Natal as Regional Head of NIB’s property business, which was merged five years later with BOE, Nedbank and Cape Of Good Hope Banks. In 2005, Thomas was appointed Divisional Director of the KZN region of Nedbank Corporate Property Finance, followed by his current appointment as Divisional Director of the Cape region.

Joseph has 12 years of property and finance experience, nine years of which were gained at the Marriott Group, in property with an emphasis on the listed property sector. While at the Marriott Group he held the position of Finance Director for Martprop Property Fund, where he was an integral member of the management team and was a member of the project team in the listing of S A Retail Properties Limited and Ambit Properties Limited.

In addition to his role as Head of Strategy, Joseph is the Deputy Chairman for the Nedbank Corporate Property Finance Property Partners Investment business, and a member of the Nedbank Corporate Employment Equity Forum.   He also holds the position of Chairman of the Lion Match Company.
