The long awaited four star Mapungubwe Hotel Apartments officially opened on Monday, October 1

Located in Marshalltown, Johannesburg on Anderson, Ferreira and Marshall Streets, Mapungubwe is positioned down the road from Standard Bank Head Office and directly across from Anglo American Head Office.  The establishment which caters to the business traveler and leisure seeker will bring an element of style never before seen in these parts.

“We are obviously thrilled that we are now trading,” says Dominic Pendergast, director of the hotel operator, Fair City Hotels and Apartments.  “The Mapungubwe establishment is a sectional title scheme that combines 91 hotel apartments with an additional 37 residential apartments.  Many of the owners of the residential apartments have already occupied their new homes.”

Mapungubwe Hotel Apartments has been conceptualized in a manner that will establish it as the preferred ‘home away from home’ option for travelers in central Jo’burg.  And for many of the apartment owners who permanently live at Mapungubwe, the establishment is considered a dream come true.  Where else in central Jo’burg can you find pure class, coupled with a location next door to some of Africa’s and South Africa’s corporate power houses?”

Mapungubwe Hotel Apartments is a blend of a modern lifestyle, with world famous history.  The history of the Mapungubwe tribe of Southern Africa has been adopted as the theme for the establishment.  It has been carried throughout from the hotel name to all the interior architecture and furnishings.

Top quality and tasteful fittings have been utilized and a stay at Mapungubwe will undoubtedly be termed a ‘worthy experience’ by any visitor. The accommodation options include studio or 1-bedroomed apartments.  These are fitted with modern kitchens that are equipped with a microwave and stove as well as other essential appliances.  The bathrooms are well appointed with a shower and bath.

The hotel also offers an onsite restaurant called Black which will open in November.  Until then a breakfast and room service menu will be made able to guests.  The Mapungubwe outlet will be the first of its kind in the country and the first in this new brand which is housed within the Cappello Coffee Group’s stable.

In addition, the establishment also sports a whisky bar; relaxing lounge; room service facility; a concierge desk; a fully equipped communications and business centre; high speed internet connectivity in each room as well as a fully equipped gymnasium and swimming pool.  Mapungubwe is also equipped with CCTV surveillance, top-notch 24-hour patrolled security as well as safe and secure valet parking.

A shuttle service to and from the O.R Tambo Airport as well as an ‘on demand shopping facility’ is also available.  “‘On demand shopping’ is simply a service that we will provide to our guests should they need grocery supplies replenished.  We will basically go out and do their grocery shopping for them so they can concentrate on more meaningful and enjoyable activities,” says Pendergast.
