“Part of our mandate from the property industry is to ensure Sapoa maintains good relations with government at all levels,” says Sapoa CEO Neil Gopal. “The developer’s committee is an effective way to achieve that goal at the local level. We will be dealing with issues relating to rezoning delays, developer and local authority responsibilities, power outages, infrastructure and transport.”
The new Sapoa’s developer’s committee is charged with building relationships at local and provincial government level. Sapoa says property developers tend to interact most frequently with local authorities who handle key issues such as development charges, town planning schemes and bulk infrastructure.
