A national hotel chain has reached a milestone by opening a new operation in the Eastern Cape.

JSE-listed City Lodge Hotels group announced at the weekend that it had opened the first rooms to clients at its new Road Lodge in East London – the 40th hotel in the group‘s chain. The hotel will be fully operational during May.

Group chief executive Clifford Ross said the first 26 rooms of the 90-room hotel had opened last week, “providing an accommodation injection for business and leisure travellers in the Buffalo City area”.

Situated between Cheltenham Road and Union Avenue, close to the CBD, the R22-million hotel is the group‘s fourth in the Eastern Cape, complementing a Courtyard, a City Lodge and a Road Lodge in Port Elizabeth, says Ross.

“We are very pleased to have a hotel in East London as it not only adds to the city‘s accommodation, but also helps us to increase our footprint on the east coast,” he added.
