The trade launch last week of Zevenwacht Mall – currently being developed in Kuilsriver by Zenprop Property Holdings (Pty) Ltd - brought to an end months of fervent anticipation by retailers eager for a preview of the exciting new development which will invigorate the region’s retail landscape when it comes on line in April 2008.

“Interest in the run up to the launch was phenomenal, and we were very pleasantly surprised when our expected guest list of 160 swelled to over 200 on the day of the launch” said Adam Blow, Director of Zenprop Property Holdings and head of the company’s burgeoning retail portfolio. 

Despite a crowded auditorium and surprisingly hot autumn afternoon, guests were notably impressed by the hospitality of the event and the professionalism of the presentation, both of which underscored Zenprop’s pioneering spirit and innovative approach to property development. 

“Zenprop differentiates itself on its long term property investment strategy, which allows us invest more vigorously in areas such as concept and design, materials and aesthetics, tenant mix differentiation, management and marketing” said Blow.

In welcoming prospective tenants, Mr Blow highlighted the importance of a strategically sound, carefully constructed tenant mix, and reasserted Zenprop’s commitment towards developing long term, mutually beneficial partnerships with its tenants.  “Our purpose today is not to sign up hundreds of tenants, but to lay the foundation for a long standing business relationship with you, our business partners”, he said.

“As a means of introducing interested line store operators to both the development and the developer, the function was a tremendous success”, said Mr Sean Kimble, Zenprop’s head of leasing in the Western Cape.  But he stressed that getting the mix right was of paramount importance and that the process of negotiation and composition would be a long one.  “We need the right mix of tenants, on the right terms” he said.

60% of the centre’s GLA - 32 000m2 in phase 1 with a further 12 000m2 anticipated for phase 2 - has already been let to major national retail chains including SuperSpar, Woolworths, Edgars, Foschini, Jet, C.N.A, Markhams, @ Home, Totalsports, Truworths, Ackermans, Pep, Mr Price, Mr Price Home, Milady’s, and Clicks.  The aim of the function was therefore to assemble the pick of the country’s specialized line store operators.
Zevenwacht Mall is located at the intersection of Polkadraai and Van Riebeeck Roads in Kuilsriver, equidistant from the N1 and N2 highways.  Construction is well under way and the centre is schedule to open in April 2008.
