Hermans & Roman Property Solutions, a national property management company has recently expanded their portfolio by taking over the management of the Metlife building in Durban.

Kevin Roman, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hermans & Roman said, “We are thrilled to add the Metlife building to our portfolio, and we are looking forward to the challenging opportunities presented by managing this property.

“A considerable part of the Metlife building is occupied by Metropolitan. Other tenants are various legal firms and, due to the building’s close proximity to the harbour, several shipping companies. We are enjoying getting to know the tenants and to establishing a good relationship with them.”

The Metlife Building is situated in Smith Street, in the heart of Durban’s business district and comprises sixteen floors, of which each floor measures 900 square meters, as well as three parking levels.

“This is a much-sought after building for office space,” said Michael Doveton, New Business Manager for Hermans & Roman in Kwa-Zulu Natal. “From the top floor there are stunning views over the harbour and the city,” Roman said. “In addition, ample parking and the building’s proximity to transport nodes are highly desirable for staff.”

Doveton said that the property was built twelve years ago and, since its completion, has won several architectural awards.

Vuyani Hako, MD : Metropolitan Properties and Chairman of the Body Corporate for this building, said, “We appointed Hermans & Roman Property Solutions to manage this building because of their expertise and extensive experience in the property management sector. They also pay attention to the operational detail and we wanted a company that could maximise the value of the property”.

“We are very proud of our award-winning Metlife building and know it is being looked after in the best hands,” said Hako.

“Although we are currently identifying how we can improve upon the management of the building, I have to say that the building has been very well maintained over the past years, especially in relation to other properties in the area,” concludes Roman.
