Long-established Port Elizabeth motor group Tavcor is to invest R6 million into the city‘s urban development zone by constructing a new Audi showroom in North End.
The new facility will also house the Eastern Cape‘s only super sports car franchise for the new Audi R8.
This brings the total Tavcor investment in the urban development zone to R18 million since 2005.
Tavcor‘s technical centre is also based in North End, and Tavcor Audi‘s dealer principal, Bjorn van Bochove, said the group continued to invest there to stimulate investment in the area.
Tavcor is one of only seven dealerships in South Africa to get the R8 franchise.
“Our technical competence allows us to handle highly technical products such as the Audi R8,” Tavcor managing director Alan Taverner said.
He said the group also “continuously invests in training our technical staff to build our capacity to look after new technology”.
Van Bochove added: “The growing demand for the Audi range resulted in this new development.”
