Leases worth R47 million and for more than 52 600m² were signed by Old Mutual Properties in greater Durban in 2000.
Regional property manager Yacoob Latiff said new city centre office lettings and renewals accounted for more than half the value of the deals concluded last year.
"The total space in CBD lettings amounted to 14 000m², with rentals ranging up to R55/m² for prime offices. The volume of leases and an increasing flow of inquiries confirms that the CBD remains a premier office location, offering quality space at
competitive rentals."
