The R450 million Highveld Mall is fully let and on track for opening in April.

Highveld Mall in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga is being developed by a consortium comprising Flanagan & Gerard Property Development and Investment (50%) and black owned and managed Falcon Forest Trading (50%). The 40,000m2 fully enclosed and air conditioned mall with over 110 stores is now 100% let with a varied and wide-ranging mix of tenants.  Anchor tenants are Woolworths, Pick ‘n Pay and Edgars. All four major banks will also be represented at Highveld Mall which will also introduce many retail ‘firsts’, such as a Meltz Mega Factory Store, to the area.

“The exciting mix of tenants provides the ideal comparative shopping location, with a combination of well-known, popular national tenants and unique specialised and independent retailers,” says Patrick Flanagan of Flanagan & Gerard.  “Pick ‘n Pay has already taken handover of its new premises and, by the end of February, most of the retailers will be moving into their shops in preparation for opening,” notes Flanagan.  He elaborates that the mall is already looking remarkable with its majestic six-storey entrances, featuring magnificent coloured glass, in place. All roofs are on and several external walls are already in the process of receiving their second coat of paint.

Inside Highveld Mall, the finishes are being put in place with about half of the mall tiling complete, and 70% of shop fronts installed. “It’s beginning to look like the fabulous dominant regional shopping centre it is set to become,” Flanagan enthuses.
