Johannesburg, 30 November, 2006 - You no longer have to be a large company to have offices on Cape Town’s stylish Foreshore. Virtual workspace company Habitaz Global Workspaces is launching the Mother City’s first pay-per-use office space, complete with instant access to professional office facilities, virtual office services such as call answering and other office support services.
The AAA-grade office facility in the new Convention Tower development is already being marketed, with completion scheduled for next year. Developed by local company Spearhead Property Group, it offers convenient access from all entry points to the CBD, as well as walkway access to the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
The Habitaz offices will comprise some 2000 square meters of fully serviced and furnished office facilities, including a reception area, business centre, café, meeting rooms, office suites and hot-desking work areas. The centre is fully wireless-enabled, with broadband internet and VoIP phone systems and is set to become a base for local and international companies in need of flexible serviced office space in the Cape Town CBD.
The first Habitaz concept office, which opened in Bryanston, Johannesburg some 18 months ago, has been a runaway success, and director Hein Koen says he expects a similar response in Cape Town, which is fast becoming a key location for local and international businesses.
“There is a huge amount of business development in the Western Cape at the moment. The local economy is picking up and we see a great need for flexible office infrastructure and services. We see opportunities from both the local SMME market as well as national and international companies who need a presence in the Cape Town market. This is further supported by activity around the 2010 World Cup,” says Koen.
“Habitaz has had great success in Jo’burg by giving smaller companies and mobile professionals access to office infrastructure and services. Our Jo’burg operation has also become a branch office for larger local and international companies that do not necessarily have their own office infrastructure in the city, and we expect to see a similar uptake in Cape Town,” says Koen.
Koen says on-demand office space is finding a clear niche among mobile professionals and independent contractors who need professional company image, office facilities and services on an ad-hoc basis. He believes the traditional property market is not able to offer these individuals the flexibility they demand.
Cape Town clients will be able to access the new facilities, as well as a range of business support services, as and when they need it on a pay-per-use basis using the Habitaz GreenCard – the world’s first in-house debit card for use of office facilities.
The GreenCard is proving to be a boon for small companies who need to plan their cash flows, and mobile workers who need the assurance of a professional front-office. Users get all their office expenses on a single account, including online detailed reports of all centre usage per employee, allowing for real-time office management.
