The property, which was recently acquired for an undisclosed amount, will have a further 20000m² of light industrial and distribution space added to it. The park, which was recently upgraded, already has 60000m² in use.
Doug Ross, MD of JT Ross, says a new interchange has been built in Brackenfell and there is a lot of development activity in the area.
“The area has undergone a transformation. An opportunity came up with an old industrial property, which we saw had redevelopment potential.”
The park is situated in the vicinity of the Checkers group’s distribution centre for Western Cape. Ross says the park is “tired” but there is “potential for development opportunities with the ability to develop a further 20000m²”.
Group Five says that historically the site has been used for heavy industry and that the group has been tasked with optimising its usage.
“Upgrading the entrance to the park significantly improved the aesthetic appeal of the site and a buffer has been created between the residential and industrial area, contributing to the overall improvement of the area,” the group says.
