Billion Property Group chief executive Sisa Ngebulana says plans for the R800 million shopping mall adjoining Hemingways Casino are "progressing very well".
Ngebulana said work on the site had begun already - two weeks ahead of next month's planned start time.
"Bush clearance of the site is already under way," he said yesterday.
The proposed Hemingways Mall is the second shopping centre for the group in this area - the first is a R125m shopping centre currently under construction in the heart of Mdantsane.
However, Ngebulana would not say how many companies had already signed up to occupy space at the Hemingways Mall - which is being touted as an exclusive flagship for East London that offers the "ultimate shopping experience".
"The interest has exceeded the space (initially available) and we are currently busy with final planning," Ngebulana said this week.
