Facilities Management Africa 2006 (FM Africa 2006) - an exhibition showcasing facilities management in Africa – will make its début on the South African exhibition calendar from 24 to 26 October at Gallagher Estate, Midrand.

Property-Housing-Residential

Facilities Management is a profession that encompasses multiple disciplines to ensure functionality of the built environment by integrating people, place, process and technology.

Fully supported by the South African Facilities Management Association, FM Africa 2006 will be positioned as the definitive meeting place for all those involved in facilities management, workplace management, fire, health and safety, policing and security.

Explains Bette McNaugton, event director of Fair Consultants: “Facilities Management Africa 2006 is a new broad-reaching exhibition – 6 in 1 – aimed at all those who contribute to making the workplace deliver – from the boardroom to the shop floor, in both the public and private sectors.

With GDP growth moving above 5% per annum, the changing nature of the Southern African workplace has created the need for an integrated forum where the facilities management and business services sectors can be put on show and advance its future. FM Africa aims to do just that!”

With facilities management being one of the fastest growing industries globally, the exhibition will create a vital link for decision makers with suppliers and service providers at a time when management costs for new developments in the Middle East alone have been estimated at US$144 billion.  FM Africa 2006 will draw on regional and worldwide expertise to give visitors an insight into the different aspects of facilities management.

An emerging concept in Africa, facilities management advocates an integrated approach in order to manage the built environment effectively. In the past, management of real estate projects,Commercial buildings and other developments was handled by landlords, owners and appointed managers without much emphasis on effective integrated facilities management.

But effective facilities management is now believed to be fundamental to the success of any organisation and contributes to the delivery of its strategic and operational objectives.

McNaughton believes that FM Africa 2006 will fill a gap in the market.  “FM Africa 2006 is an ideal platform for suppliers build mutually beneficial relationships.  Participants will be able to meet face to face with people to discuss their challenges and offer tailored solutions to suit their individual requirements.”

A number of events will run in tandem with the exhibition, including a conference and seminars that will attract quality delegates.  These activities will take place in a purpose-built facility in the Expo Hall allowing exhibitors maximum exposure.

Expo visitors and participants will consist of a wide range of key decision makers, including architects, property developers, building maintenance managers and managing directors.
