Gensec Property Services and the Arabian Services Group (ASG), have signed a partnership agreement, with Gensec holding a 45% share and three director seats. ASG holds the majority 50% with two director seats, while the remaining 5% will be held by existing ASG chairman, Dr Sami Salman.

Property-Housing-ResidentialBased in Khobar, Saudi Arabia, Gensec aims to open a new head office in Riyadh.

ASG manages various portfolios for smaller investors with a full suite of services including, design, engineering, property management, project management, marketing and leasing for retail, commercial, industrial properties and residential compounds.
Willem Strydom, Snr Portfolio Manager, Gensec has been appointed to the position of General Manager of the new company - ASG, in partnership with Gensec - and will be based in Saudi Arabia. Strydom has the retail, commercial and industrial property experience required to manage the new company.

"Our aim with the new company is to streamline their business in areas such as concentrated leasing and marketing management, property management emphasising retail services, facilities management and asset consulting services to add real value to the bottom line," says Strydom.

With the geographic scope currently defined as The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kingdom of Bahrain, State of Kuwait and the State of Qatar, Gensec plans to service current clients, while aggressively growing the business through adding value and by pursuing new business opportunities.

"Part of our strategy is to improve the company's positioning in the market, through strategic branding, restructuring of the company and its services and systems, as well as aligning service operations such as cleaning and security services," says Strydom.

Saudi Arabia, currently faces a skills shortage in their property services industry which means these skills will initially have to be sourced in South Africa. However, the transfer of relevant skills will be a high priority through the implementation of formalised training programmes.

Strydom says, "I am very excited about the opportunities in Saudi Arabia and we are committed to creating a true Saudi Arabian company that is not merely a generic clone of a South African Gensec.  We are enormously impressed with our Saudi partners and are honoured to be working with them on this venture."
