ADVERTISING agency Ogilvy says it has committed more than R70m towards the rejuvenation of the District Six surrounds.

Ogilvy will be the anchor tenant for a new R160m development known as The District, which is located in Woodstock and borders Sir Lowry Road.

The development will provide an additional 10000m² of residential and retail opportunities. Ogilvy Cape MD Mike Abel believes the area will become a creative hub.

Property developers Gateway said The District would be "completely lifestyle orientated and the first major development within the area".

Ogilvy take occupancy towards the end of this year, leaving the Roeland Street location after 22 years. Construction should be completed in the next 18 months.
