Another multimillion- rand upmarket golfing development is on the cards for the Eastern Cape - on the slopes of the Katberg mountain range near Seymour.

Details of the R350 million project were disclosed by the spokesperson for Nkonkobe municipality, Lubabalo Gwintsa.

This follows the confirmation last week that plans for a R1,6 billion development at Gonubie are on course.

He said the empowerment Katberg project is a joint venture between the Nkonkobe municipality's economic development agency and the East London-based Kat Leisure group.

The new development will be located at the popular Katberg Hotel and Spa.

Comment could not be obtained yesterday from the group on the development.

Gwintsa said the fine-tuning of an agreement between the two major developmental partners was in its final stages.

Work could begin soon. A developmental timeframe could not be established.

Last week, Buffalo City mayor Sindisile Maclean said a plan by the Billion Group, an empowerment entity, to establish a R1,6bn golf estate between Gonubie and Sunrise-on-Sea was well on its way to being realised.
