Motorists using the Heriotdale Bridge over the M2 are warned that the Johannesburg Roads Agency is undertaking maintenance work on the bridge over the next two weeks.

The agency is busy replacing a damaged expansion joint on the bridge at Lower Germiston Road.

Work on the section started on 23 June and will continue until 8 July and construction teams will be busy from Monday to Friday, between 7pm and 5am.

The repair is part of a R3-million project to replace expansion joints where needed along the M2 motorway, which forms a vital link between the eastern and western suburbs and the Johannesburg central business district.

Raven Shabe, the marketing, public relations and communications manager for the roads agency, said, "Motorists are requested to exercise patience and plan ahead as road works of this nature will undoubtedly lead to some inconvenience."
