The new R50-million Reeds House – an office and motor showroom project in Cape Town’s Culemborg district on the Foreshore – is progressing at a cracking pace and will be ready for occupation soon.
The new Reeds House will be home to one of the largest motor dealerships in the country, which is currently being rebranded Reeds in the wake of the Delta Group’s global alignment with General Motors. The dealership will house the Opel, Isuzu, Chevrolet and Saab brands respectively.
It forms part of a massive reinvestment by Reeds, which includes a newlook Opel and Izuzu Truck Centre in Tygervalley and an upgrade to its N1 City dealerships.
Ian Bell Chairman of Reeds says the new building is set to transform the area further.
“The area is an ideal motor industry node and a number of other motor dealerships are already in the vicinity. Our new building, which is very modern and aluminium clad offers 9000m2 of motor dealership space and up to 2000 m2 of A-grade lettable office space, adds a new dimension.
“It will also provide two floors of undercover secure parking – enough for about 250 cars – which will serve a major need as parking is in short supply in the area.
“We made a strategic decision when we started formulating plans to develop the site, to include more than enough parking as it is a real premium in the area,’ he said.
Bell says the area is perfectly situated close to the city centre with direct access to both N1 and N2 freeways. It is also close to the Cape Town Convention Centre and Civic Centre and commands superb views of Table Mountain.
The 12 month project has also had a positive influence on local job creation where more than 60 individuals have benefited.
