Investors will soon benefit from the opportunity of bypassing the rising property prices in the historic town of Stellenbosch, when d’ Ouwe Werf, South Africa’s oldest and most established inn makes the rare opportunity available for buyers to own a stake in the hotel.
The famous two century old landmark hotel is offering buyers 39 of its rooms in exchange for 30 days luxury accommodation and a substantial return on their investment.
Atterbury Cape, a company entrenched in the leisure development industry will be facilitating the entire d’ Ouwe Werf portfiolio to ensure maximum return for investors. “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire shares in a fully-furnished luxury four-star hotel that has a proven track record of occupancy,” says Gerhardt Jooste, managing director of Atterbury Cape.
Apart from the obvious benefits of owning a stake in a well-established hotel that has provided high quality accommodation for more than two centuries, investors will receive a free 30 day holiday every year.
“It is ideal for long-term holidays or short weekend excursions, as well as for quick business trips,” says Jooste, adding that corporate investors would also benefit from having accommodation on hand for their travelling executives.
The 39 luxury hotel suites range in size and are priced from R950 000 per unit. Ownership is by sectional title and there are no transfer duties. The offer of investment includes the benefits of a 5% net rental guarantee per annum for the first two years as well as no payment of levies during this period. Occupancy will be from the end of 2005 although some rooms may be available earlier.
The present owners, Cobus and Pieter Venter will continue operating the hotel on behalf of all the investors.
D’ Ouwe Werf enjoys national monument status for two of its buildings, namely the main building which was established in 1802 and the Victorian House next door which forms part of hotel. It offers a perfect balance between olde-worlde charm and modern-day hospitality.
Says Cobus Venter, Managing Director of d ‘Ouwe Werf, “Guests can enjoy the charm of a historical establishment from days gone by with all the luxuries and comforts of modern-day living.”
Established in 1802, d’Oude Werf still endures its reputation as South Africa’s oldest inn and has come to symbolise unpretentious luxury, unobtrusive service and exquisite Cape cuisine.
Its high beamed ceilings and gleaming yellowwood floors provide a timelessness that is complemented by the tasteful furnishings and contemporary elements, further enhanced by Georgian and Victorian design.
The well-appointed rooms are individually styled in a combination of contemporary and period pieces that are highlighted by the elegance of crisp linens, rich textures and soft furnishings. The rooms are spacious and air-conditioned and the bathrooms are modern and generous.
When it comes to fine dining, d’ OuweWerf’s 1802 Restaurant and Tea Garden, is rated, among the top three restaurants in Stellenbosch. Its traditional blend of dishes is imbued with local flavour to provide what is proudly called Cape Fusion Cuisine. Lunch and dinner are served in an atmosphere of 18th century Cape splendour while sumptuous teas and lighter meals can be enjoyed in the vine covered courtyard.
d’ Ouwe Werf is set in picturesque garden surrounds. A heated-rim flow pool with wooden decks and a cascading water feature have been architecturally designed to harmonise with the buildings and environs. There is also an in-house wellness centre which provides a number of massage and beauty treatments.
Amid shady avenues and oak-lined streets, d’ Ouwe Werf spills out into the vibrant atmosphere of Stellenbosch town. Trendy coffee shops, exclusive boutiques, and street cafes provide the playground for enlightening entertainment. It is also well-located in the centre of the Western Cape’s winelands and close to many of the country’s internationally renowned wine estates and other major scenic attractions.
d’ Ouwe Werf will be officially launched on Tuesday 01st March 2005 at 18:00.
