Of the 329 plans approved last month, 187 (56%) were for subsidised houses in Beacon Bay and Reeston, at a combined cost of R3,98 million.
In Beacon Bay, 75 plans were approved for low-cost housing and in Reeston 112 plans were approved. Plans were valued at R21 318 each.
The total cost of plans approved for the city reached R41,8m, compared to the January 2003 total of R31m. This was lower than the monthly average of R47m.
Additional shops with plans valued at over R12m have been approved for the development of Malcomess Park in Southernwood.
lBuilding plans to the value of R585,000 were approved for offices in Beacon Bay.
lThe sweltering summer heat has prompted six homeowners in the Buffalo City area to install swimming pools, ranging in cost from R23,000 to R38,000.
