The hour-long programme will be 'looped' on DStv's channel 55, from 7pm-11pm on Saturday and from 9am-1pm on Sunday, giving viewers up to eight chances to see the homes on offer. The programme will also give advice to buyers and sellers.
'It is the first time SA's best homes will be seen on sale, on show and live on television,' says Vernon Matzopoulos, channel head at Summit.
'Home buyers will be able to choose which house or development to view after they have had a chance to see it first on TV.'
Weekend Property is supported by leading estate agents and property developers.
The programme is a collaboration between Summit and the originators of the concept, ProperTV. Peter Armitage, ProperTV CEO, says estate agents and developers will put their best properties on the show every week.
The programme will introduce innovations such as an onscreen telephone number which buyers can call for travel directions to the homes they want to view. Homes will also be cross marketed print adverts will be flagged to alert readers to view them on Weekend Property.
'There are also advantages to sellers,' says Armitage. 'Listing a home on Weekend Property will raise it above the clutter and allow it to be shown off to best advantage to the high income audience found on DStv.
'So for advertisers, the show provides a highly targeted, costeffective way to reach the property-buying public directly.'
Armitage says Weekend Property has attracted strong interest from advertisers and he expects the programme to be an immediate hit with viewers.
