This debate and many more will be discussed in four sessions at the IPD/SAPOA Property Investment Conference to be held at the Sandton Sun on 3 & 4 November 2004.

Chaired by Angelique de Rauville of Provest Management the first session “International Real Estate Investment Trends” will focus on how these lessons learnt can be equated to the South African environment. Rupert Nabarro, Chairman of IPD Holdings in the UK will be the keynote speaker and will address “The Place of Property Investment in a global context”. The experiences of the US, Australian and European markets in balancing property risk and return will be discussed by Andrew Baum of Oxford Property Consultants UK. Dean You Lee of Absa/Maquarie Bank will give a South African perspective on securitization and innovation in the development of property investment vehicles.
Francois Viruly of Viruly Consulting will chair the second session which includes speakers Len van Niekerk of Andisa Securities who will tackle the question of how do we grow the listed property sector. Louis Norval will follow with a discussion on the new breed of private investor companies who are achieving excellence in asset and property management.
Gensec Property Services’ Kura Chihota will chair the session on whether globalization is having an impact on our property markets and will challenge the audience on how empowerment will take place, what are the relevant investment and financing mechanisms and what role the state should be playing. Mariette Warner, of Standard Bank Properties will discuss Fund Management Styles and Investment Vehicles that are shaping the future.
The last session will be chaired by Andrew Baum who will have Jaco Maritz of Cadiz Financial Strategists setting the scene for the allocation of investments in a multi asset portfolio.
Also at this event the Annual Property Investment Awards will be presented at a gala dinner.
